What is this study about?

We are conducting online focus groups to ask people about their experiences receiving certain clinical services at their local pharmacy (also referred to as a chemist or community pharmacy). If you were offered but decided not to use these services in your local pharmacy your opinions are equally important.

What is a focus group?

In a research setting, a focus group is where a small group of people provide feedback on a certain topic, guided by a moderator. In this case the topic of interest is the clinical services offered in local pharmacies and the moderator will be a member of the evaluation team. As a person who was offered and potentially received these services, your opinions are important to help improve how they are delivered in the future.

I am interested, what do I have to do?

In order to determine if you are eligible for a focus group, we need to ask you a few questions about your age and types of clinical services received or were offered.

If you are eligible, we will also ask you a few questions to help us in selecting a broad group of participants with different views. If you are selected for a focus group and participate in one, you will receive a £25 high-street voucher as a thank you. The voucher will be delivered to you after the focus group by email or post (depending on your preference).

More information about the study:

The focus group will be with about 5 to 6 people and will last for 90 minutes. The focus group will be online, which means that you can join the focus group on your computer or smart phone. If you cannot access the internet on your device, you can use your mobile phone and dial the conference call number to join instead.

Not everyone that completes this screening survey will be selected for a focus group. If you are selected, a brief pre-focus group survey will be sent to you by email or to your home address to complete beforehand. This pre-focus group survey will ask you about the services you have received in the last 6-8 months, and your experience accessing and receiving the services. If more convenient, you can also complete the pre-focus group survey via telephone.
